I don't know if it has to do with Dubbing Brothers having allegedly done very few anime, or Amazon was trying to rush these dubs (unlikely, according to Tiffany Grant the new movie was recorded in December 2020/January 2021, with the other re-dubs to follow in order), or if like the ADR Director did not notice, or something else entirely. It's just that leaving in Japanese screams and voices in an English dub like this (the closest equivalent I can think of is the Tales of Vesperia DE, but with opposing languages!) should be unacceptable. And to be honest, there were some lines I heard that I genuinely liked. I thought they did great for what they had to work with-usually with something like Funimation's dubs, scripts can be tailored to make the performance work, but it looks like there was literally no wiggle room here. This is in no way the actor's faults though. To be fair, I personally thought Amazon's 3.33 dub was about on par with Funimation's, and without spoilers, I really liked 3.0+1.01's dub, even though they both also share in these same problems. Was it the result of rushing or an oversight? Or was it straight up neglected? Can this all be fixed for a potential Blu-ray? Find out in the next episode for the Blu-ray re-dub, with extra fanservice coming soon! It's so upsetting, because I generally liked what I heard from the re-dubs (even though I still think the Funimation ones are better in almost every way) before I became privy to all of this. I have to wonder what the heck happened here. It's also not consistent, because there actually is a Spike Spencer scream during that one falling Angel sequence. This is also the case when he gets hit by the Ramiel's laser, I believe the final scenes of 2.22 use Ogata's screams as well, which is incredibly disappointing because Spike did amazing for Funimation's dub. So for example, during the Angel fight scene where Shinji is ordered to escape, all of Shinji's screams and grunts come from Megumi Ogata, even while Spike Spencer is the speaking voice. It's probably really hard to tell unless you're familiar with the Japanese audio somewhat. My biggest complaint about Amazon's re-dubs is that a lot of screams, crying, gasps, grunts, and other kinds of various reactions are left in Japanese.
